FRIDAY HAPPENINGS

Welcome to a gray and rainy Friday the 13th.  I am not superstitious at all and often say this is my lucky day.

This morning I picked up Genny and we went to Dollar Tree to get the rest of the things we needed for our church's Ladies Brunch tomorrow.  Genny and I come up with all these ideas on activities for the church and this was our latest one.  I'll be sure to post lots of pictures tomorrow.  I just didn't take any today.

After shopping we headed over to church and spent 3 hours cleaning and decorating.  It was a huge job for just the two of us, but we did it.  All except putting out the trash which Joe has said he will help me with either tonight or tomorrow morning according to how the weather is.

I forgot to say yesterday that after the funeral luncheon we headed over to the library for me to return a couple of books and pick up one that I had ordered.  When I went in my friend, Barbara, was on the front desk.  I was surprised to see her there.  I asked if her library was closed and she was there for the day, but she said no she had gotten a promotion to my former position.  She started on Tuesday.  I'm so glad!  She is such a nice person and I know she will be a good fit with the other people working there.  We talked for a few minutes and I started picking things up and putting them away.  She said, "You just can't help yourself can you?"  I told her, "It's in my blood."  Ha, ha!

Boss was talking to Joe and talked him into reading the Book Club selection.  But he also called me over.  It seems I still had some carfare money coming to me.  A whole $9.00.  I'll take it!

We didn't stay long but long enough for me to realize that I no longer miss my job.  Yes, I loved it while I did it and I do enjoy seeing my former co-workers and friends, but it's like I have moved on.  And that's a good thing.

I'm finally going to have my fish dinner tonight.  I have had the pollock in the fridge for a couple of days saying I'm going to have it and then something always comes up.  But tonight is the night.  I got asparagus to have with it and I'm making a salad with some beautiful fresh strawberries that I got the other day.

But that's for later.  Right now I'm going to put my poor swollen feet up and take a short nap.  I sure do enjoy my afternoon naps.

Have a good day everyone.

Kathy

    1. It's a habit putting things away at the library. I don't even think about it, just do it. It is supposed to pour rain all weekend. No sun until Thursday and Friday. They will be the first two days in a row of sun this month.

  6. It sounds like you have found your groove and are enjoying your retirement! Hooray! I am guessing that you are like some other retirees I know who wonder how they ever had time to work. :) How wonderful that you now *know* that you don't miss your old job.

    Your fish dinner sounds delicious!

    1. You are absolutely right. I don't know how I worked and did all I did. I guess we just make time. Now I'm busier than ever.

  7. It must have been nice to see your friend at the library, though I had to chuckle at you putting things away! we all seem to have an auto pilot.I LOVE my naps! I don't always get to take them what with volunteering twice a week & errands but I do on Sunday. It's church, lunch then...puppy nap! I take two of our three dogs upstairs with me. There's something soothing in an old dog's snore... woof
