IT'S FRIDAY

Even being retired Friday has a special feel to it.  And not just because it's trash day around here, although that helps.

Today Joe and I got up early and before we even ate breakfast we left and went food shopping.  Let me tell you, we are going early on Fridays from now on.  The shelves were fully stocked, the employees were just coming on so they were wide awake and pleasant.  There were empty spots near the door in the parking lot (although all the handicapped spaces were taken).  It wasn't crowded and we were able to get through the store quickly and even though we didn't stick strictly to our list, we were $40 under budget.  Nice.

We went to the store early because a snow storm is predicted for today.  It was sunny when we went in to the store and when we came out the sky was black and it was drizzling.  We stopped at McDonald's drive through for breakfast and by the time we left it was snowing.  Fortunately it was just a few flurries and by the time the car was unpacked the sun was out again.

We don't want it to storm today because we are having the parade downtown today for Villanova winning the Final Four.  Everyone in the city is really excited about it.  It's on all the news stations and there are special broadcasts of the parade.  It's not often we have a sports parade in Philly.

I have not been feeling well.  Another upper respiratory infection.  Joe and I seem to share them although he gets them a lot more than I do.  I went to see the doctor on Wednesday and she put me on another round of antibiotics.  Within 24 hours I was feeling so much better.

I wasn't feeling all that great, but I went to Bible Study last night.  Only two other people showed up, but Joe lead such a great study.  It was on the second half of Romans 1.  We really got into it.  It's amazing how reading the Bible is just like reading today's headlines.

I have to work on the church bulletin tonight to get it ready to print tomorrow.  I wait until the last minute to print it because there are often changes and last minute prayer requests.  At least I got the call to worship and scripture on time this week because Joe is speaking on Sunday.  In fact, he's speaking for the next three Sundays.  He's starting a series on the book of Colossians.  It sounds good.  Since Bud our musician is away, we were able to get one of our friends, Jim, and his wife to provide the music for us.  We haven't seen Jim in about 20 years so this will be so fun to catch up with him.

So now I have to go do some housework.  There is always more to do.  And then I will start dinner.  I'm having salmon for dinner tonight.  Yum.

Have a good evening everyone.

Kathy

  5. Hi Kathy! I'm so you're sick and so glad to know the antis has helped you! I agree to shopping in the early morning when I can and I hate to shop on the weekend. Too hectic. I so understand about putting together and printing the church bulletin. I did that for years! I'm sure Joe will do wonderfully! Blessings to you.
