CATCHING UP

I had such great plans for today and actually got absolutely nothing done.  I ended up sleeping until 10 a.m.  I never sleep that late.  I took my medication, watched my movie, fed the cats, ate breakfast, got dressed and then it was time to take Joe to his doctor's appointment at the VA Hospital.

On the way down we saw that a lot of construction was being done on the roadway and the backup in the opposite direction was miles long.  I was going to just drop him off and come back home to get things done but realized that wasn't going to happen.  It would take me forever to get home in that traffic.  So I found parking and went in with him.

The way home was really crowded.  It was so slow we were able to get a few pictures of center city with the Schuylkill River in the foreground.  There were seagulls flying over the river which I was hoping would show up in the pictures, but no such luck.

We got off of the highway and I went through some of the city streets to save time.  We were on Spring Garden and passed one of my favorite murals.  Philly is full of murals and this is one I especially like.  I was fortunate enough to get a red light right at this corner so I took a picture of it.

Joe hadn't eaten so we went to IHOP for a late lunch/early dinner.

He had a turkey dinner.

I had a pumpkin waffle and chicken.  It was good.  But I couldn't eat it all.  (Joe helped me out.)

So we got home rather late.  No cookies baked, no cleaning done, no tree up.  *sigh*  I'm very discouraged.  I know that none of this has anything to do with Christmas but I wanted to get something done.

Tomorrow is the Christmas/Happy birthday Kathy/Goodbye Kathy Party at work.  I am looking forward to it.  Tomorrow is also my late day so hopefully I will wake up in time to get something done before I go into work.  I can only hope.

Here are the movies I have been watching.  Thursday's "Angel of Christmas" (2015)...

...and Friday's "A Carol Christmas" (2003) with Tori Spelling, Gary Coleman and William Shatner were two of the best Christmas movies I think I've ever seen.

Saturday the movie was "Eve's Christmas" (2004).  Another good one but I felt the end didn't quite wrap things up.

Sunday I watched a movie recommended to me by fellow blogger, Angie.  It was "A Gift Wrapped Christmas" (2015).  Good movie and I'm glad I watched it.  Wish I could be as organized as the personal shopper in the movie.

And today it ws "I'm Not Ready for Christmas" (2015) which reminded me of the movie "Liar".  A little girl makes a wish that her aunt can't tell a lie.  And she can't.  It makes it very amusing.

So that's it.  I'm going to try to bake at least one kind of cookie before I go to bed.  Good night everyone.

  1. You are so right! Whatever you do,that is not what Christmas is about! Please don't be discouraged.Your friends love you for YOU,not what your house looks like or the cookies you bake...You bring a joy to our life. If you try too much, you'll be too tired to even enjoy the holiday or *gasp!* sleep through it! You are the gift, not things.
The photos are great, love the murals! I think we who live here take them for granted. I like IHOP. Plenty of choices.Enjoy your party!

  2. You know what, Kathy? Since time hasn't worked out for you to do what you wanted in the areas of decorating and baking.......just use your Christmas movies this year! Bake a few cookies and mix some hot cocoa and relax! It's Christmas in a box!! Next year will be different and you will a whole lot more time!! Take care of each other! Merry Christmas!

  3. Kathy, Bless your heart....you need a pop up tree. My sister has one of those little ceramic trees with lights in it and that is her tree. She only puts it on the table and she's done. LOL. My mother's trees got smaller and smaller every year. But I remember when we had none. Now it's anything goes. A branch from the lawn stuck into a container, hang some paper snow flakes....done. Blessings to you and Joe, wishing you much good health....for we all need that more than anything else.xoxo,Susie

  5. I've been behind this year but have caught up mostly. Need to bake something tomorrow or maybe two things, depending on what we are actually doing on Christmas. Hopefully make cinnamon rolls when I get off work as it's a early close which is nice. Do what you can do and not worry too much about the rest of it. Spot clean helps...it does here! My table is a mess and it needs so much help! Merry Christmas to you and Joe. God bless you!
