THE HOLIDAY BAZAAR

I got up early again today to watch my daily holiday movie.  Today it was The Christmas Spirit.  I had seen it before and enjoyed it just as much as the first time.  I am really liking my daily movies.

I have a couple of personal days to use before I leave the library so I took one today to go to the Holiday Bazaar at the community where my aunt lives.  My friend Carol decided to come with me.  We didn't know what to expect and were pleasantly surprised.  They had some really nice things for really nice prices.

When we walked in they were selling lunch.  I had eaten but didn't realize that Carol hadn't.  So she wanted to stop and eat and I kept on going.  Oops!  Sorry.

There was so much more I wanted to buy, but I had to watch my money.  And I kept thinking, "I'm trying to get things OUT of my house, not bring more stuff in."  But here's what I did get.

I got quite a haul for just a few dollars.

A pin for my friend who is a realtor and a pair of turquoise earrings for me.  Turquoise is my birthstone. $1 each.

A cute little handbag for the spring.  Also $1.  How could I lose?

This scarf is so much prettier than the picture turned out.  It is shades of brown, tan and gold and very silky.  Just right to wear with my winter outfits.  This was $1 too.

A hand knitted dish cloth.  I love these things and buy them when I see them at craft shows.  This was my big purchase.  $2.
I also bought two pieces of apple cake and two lemon bars at the bake sale table and took a chance on a basket they were raffling off with different kinds of foods and a gift card.

Then Aunt Alice took us to see her apartment.  How beautiful it is!  And it's bigger than the whole three floors of my house put together.  She has so much storage too.  I counted four closets and a pantry.  And if I had her huge bedroom, I think I would never leave it.  Wow!  But maybe I would because she has a wonderful balcony to sit on with a cup of tea and a good book.  I got Carol to take a picture of the two of us.

As you can see we were standing on her balcony with no jackets and I have short sleeves.  That's because it was sunny and 80*F today.  Did I pick the right day to take off or what?

The grounds around Aunt Alice's apartment are so beautiful.  They had lots of yellow and maroon mums and in other places ornamental cabbage and winter pansies.  This tree is right by the parking lot.  It's so bright and she can see it every day.

Carol was driving so I was able to take pictures of the trees on the way home.  The pictures don't do them justice.  Such vibrant yellows, oranges and reds.  And with the sun shining on them they were even more beautiful.

Except for Joe being sick, it was a wonderful day.  Just a little taste of what my retirement will be.

    1. I love using the knitted dishcloths. But they wear out. It's a shame because somebody put a lot of work into them.

    1. I love the earrings too. I am going to disinfect them, though, before putting them into my ears.
