LIFE IS GOOD

I can't believe that it's Thursday already.  This week has just flown by.  Just two more days of work and I am off for a week.  I am so looking forward to getting some rest and doing some things that I just have not had the time to do.  Let's see just how much I get done.  You all know how that is.  Our plans are always much more ambitious than our time or energy allow.  At least mine are.

I was in a hurry to get out of the house yesterday morning.  I wanted to get to the garage to pay the bill before I went to work.  I was going to take the car in today to have the check engine light looked at, but since the new battery, the light has gone out.  The mechanics told me to just let it go that it was probably fixed and if it went on again to bring it in.  I'm saving some money there (hopefully).

When I came out of the garage I was crossing the street to get to my car.  There was a trash truck there so I very carefully walked in front of it looking to see if there was anything coming.  This bright green car came speeding down the street the wrong way and almost hit me.  It literally missed me by inches.  I know God kept me safe and I thanked him right away.  People are in such a hurry.  When I go around a truck I go slowly so that I don't hit anyone.  This guy couldn't have stopped if he tried.  Still being here to write this blog for you has made me realize that LIFE IS GOOD!

I was in such a hurry getting out of the house that I hadn't brought anything for lunch.  I went out at lunchtime to get something to eat and suddenly realized that I had never taken my medicine that morning.  Oops!  So I kept driving, went home, took my medicine, stopped at Rite Aid and got something to eat and went back to work.  I'm thankful that I live so close to work.

I told my boss yesterday that I am planning to leave the library on December 4th.  He was surprised and said he was jealous because he'd like to retire.  He is one year younger than me.  Well, 11 months almost to the day.  Joe and I both feel that this is the right time.  Life will be much better for the both of us.

We had Bible study last night.  All women showed up.  Poor Joe.  But it was a good study.  We are starting a new series titled "Walking with Christ" and our chapter this week was "Maturing in Christ -- Your Starting Point".  Krystal had lots of questions and I hope we helped her.  At least we were all telling her the same thing.

Now it's a matter of getting ready for the Saturday evening service.  I think it will be good and will post a link to it when it goes online.

I have to get off of here and get ready for work.  Just two hours before I have to leave and although it sounds like a lot of time, it goes FAST.  Hope you all have a great day.

Kathy

  1. ou ARE having a great day! Those Morning Glories are just that---glorious.

It's good here, as well---getting ready for a little party to show off our new pink kitchen---first time we've been ready for folks to see the whole house since last February, when we started getting things out and ready to start on the kitchen demo.

The yard guys were here yesterday, and the power-wash people are out going round the outside of the house and all the concrete, so I have that little spark of anticipation, of "something's happening" and it's fun to look forward to.

I know you're looking forward to retirement, and having your days "to call your own" as my Mammaw always said. It will feel odd, for a while, like you're late-for-a-very-important-date right behind the White Rabbit, or Wasn't I supposed to be somewhere right now? But it will all smooth down into its own rhythm, like the bustle of Summer eases over into the cooler, slower pace of Fall---my favorite.

    1. Rachel you are always so creative with how you say things. I like the idea of summer easing over into fall (which also happens to be my favorite time of year). It's so exciting to finally be able to show off your pink kitchen. From the pictures you've shown I think it is so pretty. I would never have thought of making a pink kitchen, but it works!

    it pretty.

    1. The birdhouse is the one with the morning glories. Don't know what the other flowers are, but I thought they were pretty even though they all look like spring to me. I guess I'm thinking spring will return. I'm enjoying my Friday here at work. It's very slow and quiet. Well, at least while the kids are in school.
