ARE YOU READY FOR THE WEEKEND?

I'm sure ready.  It's been a rough week and I'm looking forward to having a couple -- make that three -- days off.  I have so much time off this month it's ridiculous.  But nice.

Yesterday was my late day and so I didn't get home until 8:30 p.m.  At least I had slept in.  In fact I slept in too much and slept right through my alarm.  Oops!  I was really tired when I got in and so Joe called out for dinner.  I got a sour cream and chives baked potato that was very good except they forgot to put the chives on.  So I guess I really just had a sour cream baked potato.  Ha, ha.

Today, being Friday, it wasn't too bad at work.  Most times Friday is our slowest day.  Oh, we have little spurts of activity but nothing like a regular week day.  Next week the kids go back to school and then we will be getting back into our regular schedule with after school programs and homework help.  I'll be glad to see Tasha (our after school program coordinator) back.  The city really does have a great program for the kids.

If you noticed, I've changed my retirement countdown at the bottom of the page.  If I can get all of my paperwork together, I am planning on retiring on November 30.  We'll see how that works out.  I might have to stay a little longer until the end of the pay period on December 4.  But the end is in sight.  My health is deteriorating, I am working hard to help Joe with his sermons and the church bulletin, getting both of our studies together, and running around with doctor appointments for both of us.  It will be tight money wise for a few months, but all will be well.

Friday is my early day so when I got home from work I changed the flowers in my outside pot and hung my autumn wreath on the front door. I changed the flowers on my fireplace stove from summer wild daisies to autumn sunflowers.  I think they look nice.  I will take better pictures of the outside tomorrow when the sun is shining.

We had honey ham steaks, green beans, and parsley mashed potatoes for dinner.  And we had some ice cream for dessert.

Tomorrow I am planning on working on the kitchen.  Hopefully I will get it finished and take some pictures of the fall decorations for you.  I love getting my house all clean and decorated with golds, oranges, reds and browns.  I think what I love most about fall is the fabulous colors I see.  And yes, I know it's still summer.  I'm just getting a jump start things because I know I won't have the time later.

So now it's time to wind down and get ready for bed and hopefully some sleep tonight.  See everyone tomorrow.

Kathy

  1. I am just about ready to go to bed......we are tucked into our camper tonight. I was thinking of you earlier as I was fluffing my nest here and looking at the pot holder your mother made and you gifted to me years ago. It is a treasure to me and I think of you every day that I am in my sweet camper home!

Looking forward to YOUR retirement years and hope you enjoy them as much as I am enjoying mine!!!

    Come see us in TEXAS!!!!

    1. I am so glad that you enjoy the potholders so much. I know it would have made my mom really happy to hear that. It's so sweet that you think about me when you look at them. Hopefully I WILL get to Texas to meet you in person. I'm planning on it.

    1. Well 55 is a little cool for me but I lnow what you mean. Let's compromise on 60. The thing I like about warm weather is I don't have to wear a jacket. But as my sister says that's why there's chocolate and vanilla.

  3. Kathy, I can hear you doing a happy dance from here. LOL. I did not know you were so close to retiring...oh happy day sweet girl !. You get a big break from some of those dang spoiled kids. Who 's raising them anyways. I will that their parent would shape them up before it's too late...but it probably is already. Blessings to you and Joe...xoxo,Susie

    1. I was going to try to hold out for another three years but Joe and I decided that enough was enough. We both have health issues so now is the time to go. I will miss my job and my coworkers but not a lot of the other stuff that goes on.

  4. You do so much every single day, both work and home, that I am happy to hear you are going to retire. You wont be so tired and can do the things you like, and not on the 'fly'. Enjoy the holiday weekend my friend.

  6. I am sooooo very happy for you that you have a date for your retirement. Now it is time for YOU. And you will be fine. I guarantee you will be less tired when you stop working. You will be surprised at how you save money on different things. For me a huge savings was on dry cleaning, gas for my car to drive across town to work back and forth, buying breakfast and lunch as I was always running late. I am slowly starting to get fall decor out. This way I can relax and just enjoy it. May have some friends over too, in October. And when you have more free time, I hope we can mert up for lunch one day. 😉
