JULY PHOTO CHALLENGE #3 -- FOOD

I woke up at 3 a.m. this morning and couldn't go back to sleep.  So I got up, did a load of wash and hung it outside to dry.  I put out the trash for pick up, did a load of dishes, washed the filter on the air conditioner, fed and watered Snowy, got breakfast and got ready for work.  It's starting to catch up with me now at close to midnight.

At least it was a short day at work.  We got out at 2 p.m.  Woo hoo!  We were counting down the hours the minute we got into work.  It was very quiet in the beginning.  But of course as we were leaving people were coming in and asking why we were closing so early.  Uh... holiday?  Anyone?  Ever hear of Independence Day?

When we got outside there was a man trying to start his SUV.  I asked him if he needed a jump and he took my offer.  But to no avail.  We tried for awhile, but no luck.  So when we left he was calling AAA for help.  He kept thanking me over and over for trying to help him.  But I've been in his position and no one stopped to help me.  I couldn't just leave him there.  It wouldn't be right.

After I dropped Diane off at her house I headed over to Wawa to get some money for the week and to get Joe a hoagie.  But when I got there I didn't have my debit card with me.  I searched and searched and it just wasn't there.  So I went home.  I had switched purses last night and thought it might have slipped between the cushions on the sofa.  But no such luck.  Then I looked down and it was on the floor under the coffee table.  I was so glad to find it!

I decided to just make lunch at home by that point.  As I was finishing up my friend Marion and her coworker Chris showed up at the door.  They are real estate agents and had stopped over to give me some of their business cards and a little gift to thank me for a referral I gave them.  It was a little tote bag with red, white and blue bubbles to blow, a little U.S. flag, some tissues, and glow sticks.  That was so nice.  I was embarrassed, though, because my house is a wreck.   That is what I am working on this weekend.

When they left I took a nap.  I needed it!  And woke up with the phone ringing and Walt and Carole coming over to look at the car again.  It was really HOT in there today with no a/c.  Walt has an idea about how it can be fixed.  Joe got up to answer the door while I took down the wash.  When I went out front there were the three of them with their heads under the hood looking at the engine.  I wished I had my camera then.  What a picture it would have made!  I just kept thinking about that old joke, "How many people does it take to change a lightbulb?"

So then we called out for dinner.  And since today's photo challenge topic is "food" I took a picture of the pizza we got.

It's a chicken cacciatore pizza.  It has shredded chicken, tomatoes, onions, mushrooms and green peppers.  It's very goodThere is only one pizza place around here that makes it.  They also make their own label root beer which is very good.

I have to end this and go to bed.  I am very, very tired.  See you all tomorrow.

  5. Wow, girl! What kinds of vitamins do you take? Up that early and accomplishing so much, even hanging out clothes! :) Glad you had an early day and got to go home. That was so nice of you trying to help the man. So many folks today just move on and don't stop to help. What has happened to kindness? Your pizza looks good and I've never heard of anything like that! Hope you had a great 4th.
    Be a sweetie,

  7. Now that pizza sounded really delicious! Thanks for stepping up and helping someone in need. At least he was encouraged even though the car didn't start. Hopefully it was just a dead battery, like my daughter's a few years ago. The batteries tend to go more in the heat and the cold! Hope your car's a/c gets to working soon!!! We've had high 90 degree weather lately and so thankful for our cars to have a/c and our house! Take care and have a good week! Hugs!
