JULY PHOTO CHALLENGE #20 -- COLORFUL

I ended up not going to work again today.  Joe got a call this morning to go into the doctor's office for a blood test to see if one of his drug levels was high and that might be why he was falling.  I tried to find someone to take him but on such short notice I couldn't. So I had to.  Because I had to leave before work began, I texted my boss and one of my co-workers to let them know.

We met a really nice man in the waiting room and had quite a nice conversation with him.  He was reading some theology books and was quite knowledgeable about the Christian faith.  We gave him a card for our church and invited him to visit and he said he would.

When we got home I got a text from my co-worker telling me that the boss was very angry that I didn't call at 9:45 when I was supposed to start work.  It was about noon, so I called then.  He was NOT happy.  He asked why I didn't call and I said I was driving.  Driving?!!  That's no excuse.  I am so fed up with the whole thing that I just want to go in tomorrow and quit.  Believe me if I thought I could handle it money wise I would.  In his mind work comes first and too bad about Joe.  In my mind it's the opposite.

It was SO HOT today!  It was so unbearable to drive our car.  I was feeling sick just the short way I had to go to the doctor's office (about 15 minutes).  I knew there was no way I was going to make it going downtown.  So I called Carole and asked her if she could take us.  She agreed and came to pick us up.  So we were able to get to the hospital in air conditioned comfort.  As she drove I navigated and so we didn't get lost.

Joe's appointment was at Pennsylvania Hospital -- the oldest hospital in the United States.

I stopped to take pictures of the original building as we passed.  After all, that's what a tourist and a good blogger does.  The building and grounds are beautiful.  That's a statue of William Penn, founder of Pennsylvania, in front of the building.

As I lagged behind, Carole and Joe (otherwise known as "The Sick One") went on.

We had an hour long appointment with the Movement Disorder doctor and it was very productive.  She remembered us from when she worked at the VA Hospital.

On the way home I was able to take a couple of shots as we drove along the Delaware River.  Usually I'm driving and can't take any shots.

There were a lot of boats tied up along this dock.

A view of the river and New Jersey
After we got home we both took naps and then I made dinner.  I had baked flounder, tater tots and green peas.  We had a mango cupcake for dessert.  Then I spent a couple of hours studying my lesson for tomorrow.

It's been a busy day and now it's after 2 a.m. so I am going to go see if I can get some sleep.

Oops.  I forgot the photo challenge.  Today's prompt is "colorful".  I love my colorful pansies.  These are from last year.  I think I will try to get some winter pansies for the fall.

I'm linking up with Kati at Kati's Little Corner of the World for her photo challenge this month.

Goodnight everyone!

Kathy

  1. Kathy, I do so love and admire you! You have such a gift in the way you take life's lemons and make lemonade! I, for one, appreciate you taking the time and forethought to stop and take photos!
Prayers for you and Joe and for your future retirement! THEN you will have plenty of time to do housework! And travel and hopefully come to Texas and see US! Sleep well and I wish you could sleep long!

  2. Kathy, I do hope the drs. can help with Joe. It sure was sweet of your friend to help you both out. You live in a beautiful area. I like pansies too....they will spread themselves. I have them coming up wild now. I hate that your boss can't be more understanding. Maybe we should pray for him to lighten up. :):) Blessings, xoxo,Susie

  3. I am sorry your boss wasnt more understanding. It isnt like the library will close without 1 person there. Also, glad you were able to get Joe to the right doctor and hopefully will be better now. I enjoyed the pretty pictures of the hospital and grounds, and your pansies....they always make me smile.
