HOLY SATURDAY

Another busy day.  I had to work today.  I kept wishing I were home because there is still so much to do before tomorrow.

It was just Angela and I there at the beginning of the day.  Clarissa came in later.  At least it wasn't too busy.

I was on the front desk just 10 minutes before lunch when I got a phone call from Joe.  He had heard the recycling bucket blowing down the street.  It was really windy today.  So he took his walker and went after it.  But he is still dizzy and he fell three times -- twice in the street and once on the sidewalk.  One time one of the neighbors helped him up.  The last two times two of the teens on the street helped him.  They also grabbed the can and put it in the back yard.  They helped him into the house and then he called me and asked if I could come home and help him.  I told him it was almost my lunch time and to hang in there I would be home as soon as I could.  And not to move!

When I got home I got him upstairs and into bed.  I cleaned up his bloody knees and arms.  He has bruises all over and a lump on his head.  He looks like I beat him up.  But I didn't.  Honest!  I made him a sandwich for lunch, grabbed a sandwich for me (which I ate in the car on the way back to work), and made him promise to stay put until I got home this afternoon.  Believe me, he didn't want to go anywhere.  Please pray for Joe.  He so wants to go to church and then out to dinner tomorrow.

After work I stopped off at Wawa and got us snacks, made sure Joe was OK, and headed off to Choir practice.  Tonight was our last practice before the big day tomorrow.  We finally got the ending down and after singing the anthem several times it sounded perfect.  It is really wonderful.  I would never have believed that first night that we could get so good so fast!  I am hoping to tape it tomorrow.  I'll see if I can get someone to do that for me.  So this is the first of the many changes happening at church -- the new Hope Philly Choir.

It is almost midnight and I still have wash and dishes and cleaning and baking and... to do before I can go to bed.  I can put some of it off, but I need the laundry for tomorrow.  So I am going to get off of here and wish you all a Happy Easter!

  1. Oh Kathy! I am so sorry about Joe! To put himself at risk for a can? Praise God there were kind people to assist him. May the Lord bless them for their caring. You are one of the busiest people I know. I hope you accomplish all that you need done. My encouragement & prayers are with you.
    He is risen!!

    1. Joe didn't know he was putting himself at risk. He was just going to go out, pick up the can, and bring it back to the house. He was even going to leave it out front for me to put in the back. It's just the normal things anyone would do. But now he can't. :(

  3. Happy Easter to you and Joe. ..Maybe on days where you can't be there with Joe, one of your church members could be on call, if Joe needs something. He needs to call them also. Not be out falling, which could be very dangerous. I am sending hugs to you both. May God bless you, xoxo,Susie

    1. Since I work only 10 minutes from home and we don't go to a church in our neighborhood, I can get home faster than anyone could get to him. But people have offered to check on him. That is so nice of them. Yes, falling can be dangerous.

    1. Happy Easter to you too! Yes, Joe is pretty banged up. The good thing is that it is nothing he will not recover from.

    1. Aww, thank you Christine. I take my wedding vows seriously and try to be a good wife to him. Joe did get to go to church, but ended up falling again in church!

  6. OH, My! My very best hopes and prayers for your Joe to be fully recovered soon, and I DO hope he got to go to Church and out for that good Easter dinner.

And I hope you got some rest, so you could enjoy all the blessings of the day, as well. I know the Cantata was simply lovely---I thought yesterday morning during Church-time, how many voices were raised in praise at that moment all over the place. Isn't that a lovely thought---all that glory wafting up at once?

Hope it's Spring where you are!

    1. Rachel, what a lovely thought of all those praises being raised to God. You are so right! How glorious! As I told Linda, as soon as I get the link, I will give it to all of you so you can see how well (or poorly) we did.

Joe got to church, but not dinner. He was disappointed, but in too much pain to go.
