A BUSY SATURDAY

What a day this was.  It began with getting up early and taking Joe to the doctor instead of going to work.  He still has a sinus infection and sore throat.  When we walked in the first thing I noticed were the cute nutcrackers they had on the desk where you sign in.  I asked if I could take a picture of them and the receptionist said, "sure".  I find that most people don't mind you taking pictures if the picture isn't of themselves.  I knew my sister would like seeing these because she collects nutcrackers.

While I was waiting for Joe to come out of the office I also took pictures of their little Christmas tree and Santa and one of a crocheted snowman.  So cute!

When we went to grab breakfast after the doctor's visit, we got our Saint Nicholas candy.  Saturday was St. Nicholas Day and we always celebrate it.  We give each other some small thing, sort of a pre-Christmas gift.  I got Joe a Hershey bar with almonds and he got me a couple of Reese's Peanut Butter Cups.

When I got to work, my friend, Debbie, was there.  I went out to Sonic at lunch time and got her a St. Nicholas gift too -- a cranberry slush.  She had wanted to try one, so it was a good little gift for her.

The park in back of the library had planned a whole afternoon of activities for the children in the neighborhood ending with a visit from Santa and a tree lighting ceremony.  Unfortunately it poured rain all day.  And I do mean poured.  So everything moved inside to the lower level of the library.  The tree lighting was postponed until Sunday.  But we did get to see Santa and Mrs. Claus.  They posed with the library staff and some of the people from the park.  After I took this picture I ran over and got into another one that was being taken.

I have tons more to tell you about the weekend, but I need to run for now.  So until later...

  3. nutcrackers are fun and my son collected them for awhile when he was growing up. The other day there was one out when we were there at his house. I even got to use the nutcracker throw that was on a chair. Even better since granddaughter Melody had warmed it up then moved over to the couch with her brother so I had a nice warm blanket to finish watching Mr Magoo's Christmas carol! I don't know much about St. Nicholas day. Someone told me about it....they gave friends toilet seats! Weird! maybe useful though! Have a good night!
