FRIDAY VIEW

It's the end of another happy week.  I'm working today so I actually have two days in a row off this weekend.  Although I am thinking of going in to work tomorrow just to get caught up on things.  We are getting another new person on Monday and there is no desk ready for her.  No overtime money, but peace of mind.  We'll see because I have tons of stuff to do around the house before I have company in two weeks.

I'm working at the Fishtown Library today.  It's quiet.  A nice change for the end of the week.

It's nice and sunny today and not too cold.  It's supposed to warm up this weekend and I'm hoping it does just that.  My asthma does not like the cold at all!

I went out to feed the stray cats this morning and the water I had put out for them was frozen solid.  Oh...  I didn't know it had gotten that cold overnight.  I feel sorry for those cats, but I can't take them all in.  At least I can make sure they have something to eat.  I've seen four or five roaming our street but only two come to eat from my "buffet".  I remember I was feeding my little Snowy this time last year when she was a stray.  I'm so glad she was willing to come inside and be a part of our family.  She is a sweet and good cat.  I can't imagine why anyone would abandon her.  Well now she has a forever home with us.

For your Friday View today I figured I would show you the work done on the house being built behind us.  It was pretty well done at two floors and then two days ago a third floor went up.  It makes the back sort of dark now and we can't see through to the street behind us anymore.  I feel really closed in.  At first we thought it was a stand alone house.  Then we thought it was an addition to the house already there.  Now we are thinking it is it's own house again because the roof lines are not similar and the floor levels do not match up.  Have a look and see what you think.

When last I showed you pictures, the foundation had just been poured.

By the 11th the first floor had been framed in.  But it is still light and you can see across the street.

On the 13th the inside was starting to be divided into rooms.

Here we are on the 14th.  The second storey is being built.  I sort of expected a second storey but I wasn't prepared for how dark and closed in it made things feel.

By the 16th the second storey is closed in.  Good thing too because we had a heavy rain storm.

I figured I could live with it this way.  Then one morning I was surprised to see a third storey going on!  I'm not so sure I'm happy with it now.

Today it is enclosed.  Even more than these pictures show.  And it is very dark in our yard.  I feel as if the house is right on top of me.

Joe thinks it is going to be an apartment house.  I think he may be right.  Time will tell.

Hope you enjoyed seeing the house being built.  I'll show you more as time goes on.

  1. Your kitchen has always been a sunny, warm place for us to sit & chat...I can see how this blocks a lot of your light & you're feeling 'closed in'. A third floor doesn't help.Let's wait & see how it all turns out...and who your new 'neighbors' will be!
    Enjoy your days off!

  2. I would feel claustrophobic looking out at that house. I am just wondering how the people next door to it feel.

  3. I can't believe they got zoning approval to build so close the the house next door. Maybe the neighbor signed a variance?
