OCTOBER PHOTO CHALLENGE #9 -- RED

Today did not start off well.  We were caught in major traffic taking Joe to his doctor's appointment at the Veterans Hospital and were late getting there.  I didn't have time for breakfast or to get showered and dressed before we left.  So I dropped Joe off and headed home to do so.  But halfway home I realized I didn't have time to do anything but to turn around and head back to pick up Joe.  I should have just stayed there.  So I ended up being very late for work. *sigh*  That's just the way things go sometimes.

Fortunately, the rest of my day got better.  Work went fast.  I still cannot get everything done that I want to do.  If I only had one more day a week to work there.

Today's topic for the photo challenge is red.  The first thought that came to mind was my apple bowl filled with apples.  Then I thought of my apple salt and pepper shakers and my apple teapot.  There's always my apple potholders, apple towels and apple clock.  Can you tell my kitchen is decorated with apples?  But then I thought everyone would be doing apples.  So I went with something I don't think most of you have seen before.  My red feather rose.

One Valentine's Day Joe and I bought all the ladies in our Bible Study a red feather rose.  Of course I saved one for me.  The rose, the sepals and the leaves are all made of feathers.  It is really beautiful and so unusual.  I have my rose at work on my desk where I can look at it every (or almost every) day.

Now I'm going to hop on over to the other blogs and see what everyone else has done.

Linking up with Kaitlin at Homemaker Design for this October photo challenge.
