KINDNESS AND GRACE

In thinking about kindness and grace, the first thing I wanted to do was look up a definition for each to see how they were similar or different.

Kindness means:   the quality or state of being kind; a kind act.

Grace means:  a controlled, polite, and pleasant way of behaving

I'm finding this a difficult essay to write because I really don't know what to say about these two words.  They are so very similar.  Can you be kind without being gracious?  Can you be gracious without being kind?  Webster's dictionary lists grace as a synonym of kindness and vice versa.

How kind would it be to do something nice for someone and then grumble about it?  I don't think that would be kind at all.  And grace by its very nature is kind, don't you think so?

Well, that's about it for my kindness and grace essay.  This was a tough one.  Can any of you add anything to this?

  1. Kathy, I think being kind is being nice. Having grace is being able to forgive. Kathy, I hope you are having some good weather...it's really wet to excess here in Indiana. More on the way. Blessings to you and Joe, xoxo,Susie

  3. It is hard to define either word.I agree that kindness is a state of 'being',like someone who is 'good'
or 'generous'. To me grace is more of a 'giving' or 'receiving', as a type of gift;more of a conscious act,
Perhaps like a co-worker sharing credit with you for an award she/he won. Unearned, not required, but
    that would be grace,
May the Lord shower his grace on you today!
