VETERANS DAY

I had off from work today for Veteran's Day.  Did you thank a veteran for their service today?  Being a part of the military is a hard job.  I know so many veterans and they are all heroes to me.

Here are some of my favorite veterans.  Besides my brothers David (Army), Michael (Navy) and Joseph (Coast Guard), step-son D.J. (Army) and father-in-law Joe Sr. (Marines), there are:

My dad, Hank Shuster (Marines):

My step-dad, Ed Miller (Navy):

And my husband, Joe, Jr. (Marines):

I had planned to do so much today and ended up sleeping the day away again.  Oh well.  It's Bible study and then work tomorrow and I'll have to be awake for that.  So until later...

  1. Yes, I thanked a few vets today and this evening, when we were at Applebees, we met a gentleman that had been in the Navy for years. I thanked him as he was going out and we were coming in. My daughter, who was already at restaurant and got a table for us, had talked to the man, he'd served 40 years in the Navy! Chief Warrant Officer and he could still fit into his uniform! Amazing! My husband and I went over to my co workers house and picked him up to join us, as he's a former Marine and eat with us. His wife died in Sept. All four of us had a good time together! Applebees served free meals to veterans and active duty/retired. Great food and it's great that they do that. Now I'm stuffed but it was so good. Way too cold and late to be walking. It was foggy today. Then sun for a bit then it was foggy coming home a bit tonight. Hugs to your husband from me, honor of Veteran's day!

    1. We went to Applebees one Veterans Day and had to wait almost 2 hours for a table. It was good, but we decided we didn't want to do that again. It is really nice of them to give all the veterans a free meal.

Hugs to you too for your service.

  2. My dad was in the Navy. I thank Joe & all the men & women for their service. At this time, let us not forget to honor the canine soldiers who made it possible for so many of our troops to return home. Hugs & thank yous to all!
