PIE AND PRAISE 2013

Tonight was our 5th annual Pie and Praise service at church.  Each year on the Sunday before Thanksgiving we get together and have a praise and thanksgiving service and then afterwards we get to have pie.  Lots and lots of pie.  Everyone that attends brings a pie.  Or two or three.  We are usually over run with pies.  Here's what we had tonight:

Apple, pumpkin, sweet potato, custard...  They were all there.

 The service was really nice.  One of our members, Joe A., has a great voice and was our special music.  What a gift he has!  During the giving thanks portion a lot of people told something they were thankful for.  Almost everyone said their family.  Caity mentioned that no one said their money or possessions and that showed that we knew where our true value is.

After the service it was time to eat!

I have half of a sugar-free apple pie left.  I think I will share it with my next-door neighbor who is diabetic.  There will still be plenty for Joe.

To top this day off we are still having difficulty with our new heater.  We can get some heat on the first floor, but the upper two levels are COLD!  We called the plumber and he will be here at 8 a.m. tomorrow.  Lots of quilts needed tonight to stay warm.  I think I will sleep downstairs again.  At least the fire here keeps it somewhat warm.  What a time for this to happen when it is below freezing tonight.  It is bitterly cold here.

So that's what's happening.  Even with the heater not working correctly, I am still so thankful to God that I have a house to come home to and am not homeless and living on the street.  There is always something positive to see in our experiences.
