OUR COMPUTERS ARE ON STRIKE!

What a day!  Nothing seemed to go right today.  I was running late to work and wouldn't you know the gas company decided to park and block off the street right in front of me.  I was only 4 blocks from work and had to go at least 1/2 mile out of my way, weaving in and out of streets, to get to where I wanted to go.  How frustrating!  Of course that made me late.

It seems like a lot of mail and paperwork was delivered for me on Saturday when I wasn't there and my desk was piled high.  It took me forever to get things answered, routed and put away.

Then, to top things off, we had been open only 1/2 hour when the computer system for the entire city shut down.  There was a program that decided not to work and put us all out of business.  We had to go back to doing things the old-fashioned way by stamping date due cards and writing things out.  We could take books back, but we couldn't take anything off of anybody's record.  People were not happy.  WE were not happy.  People were taking out 14-20 books and/or DVDs and we had to write everything down.  We couldn't give anyone a card.  For the most part everyone was understanding.  When the computers go up (hopefully tomorrow) we will have to take the time to enter all the numbers.  They came on for about an hour in the early afternoon and we furiously worked on it before it went down again, so we have about half of it done.

Our IT Department is working on the problem overnight.  Those poor people never get any rest.  Hopefully it will be fixed by tomorrow.  I'm saying a prayer.
