HAPPINESS

Today begins another month and another page from my cute kitchen calendar.  I wondered what I should write about this month.  I talked about tea last month.  So I chose the word "happiness".

Happiness is defined as "a state of well-being and contentment".  I was interested in what makes people happy.  So I asked my friends at church today what made them happy.  Well first I asked Joe and he said, "You."  He's such a sweetie.  Then I said, "Besides me."  He said, "Walking hand in hand with my Lord."  Better answer, Joe.

My friends had various answers.  They were:
     - my bills getting paid
     - a clean house
     - God
     - three people said their dogs
     - my husband
     - music
     - when my children are happy
     - cooking
     - food (I've got to get these two people together!)
     - a good book

But I think Joe got it the best.  When we are in tune with our Lord Jesus, there is a contentment that just surpasses anything that we can accumulate on this earth.  Jesus told us to lay up for ourselves treasures in heaven (Mt. 6:19-21).  But He gives us happiness on this earth also.

One of the things that makes me happy is my yard.  And look what Joe bought me today as an Easter gift.

I have wanted a forsythia bush for YEARS.  We saw them at Home Depot and he got one for me.  It looks so good with the purple and red tulips.  He even planted it for me this afternoon.  Now it is raining, so it is getting watered in.  My husband is the best!  I am very happy about this.

So be happy.  In spite of all the problems we face each day, we all can find SOMETHING to be happy about.

What makes YOU happy?
