BALLETX

Yesterday we had two young ladies from BalletX visit the library.  This is a new ballet company to me.  They are former members of the Pennsylvania Ballet, but this company dances not only to classics like "Swan Lake" or "The Nutcracker" but also to jazz, rock, and hip hop.

They showed the different steps and positions ballet dancers do.

They take lessons for 1 1/2 hours each day and then practice for 6 hours.  It really is a full time job to be a dancer.

Then they had some of the children come up, taught them some steps and led them in a dance.

It was a very good program.

  1. wow, that's a great program for kids. They probably loved it. I have never seen something like that at a library. Seems like you guys have really great programs. When we lived in Florida, our local library had some pretty nice programs and I took my kids to them. I love libraries...they're great!!

  2. The dance program sounded interesting, especially about how much work they must put into it.
